Why is my 2022 Refund Lower

Top Reasons: 

(1) The Child Tax credit has reverted to the 2000.00 in 2022, compared to 3000.00 and 3600.00 in 2021.

(2) The Above the line deduction for Charities, 300.00 for Single or 600.00 for Married filing Joint is not applicable this year. Charities can still be deducted, and are still helpful if Itemizing deductions on Schedule A.

(3) For the EITC, eligible taxpayers with no children who received roughly $1,500 in 2021 will now get $500 in 2022.

(4) The Child and Dependent Care Credit returns to a maximum of $2,100 in 2022 instead of $8,000 in 2021.

(5) Some taxpayers had adjustments included in 2021 return that are not applicable in 2022.
